Script example

A script , in its essential definition, is a document in which future actions are reflected and organized so that they have a common thread. Also known as a script, this “guide” leads the reader through a series of steps or events that will come to an end.

Scripts are usually used to tell a story, but not from a narrative point of view, for the final reader, but for the people who will have to interpret the characters or take the story to other media. For example, with the latter we mean the scripts that are made before recording a video. The storyboards are called storyboarding .

Types of scripts

  • Film script . It is a script that is used to make a film, in which all the details that will lead to the design of each scene and how the actors should interpret the characters are captured.
  • Technical script. They are used a lot and engineering and it has to do with the plans that are used to manufacture infrastructures, machinery, etc.
  • Theatrical script. Like the libretto for the cinema, in this case the setting will be the theater.
  • Radio script. Booklet destined to guide a radio program.

We are in a flat. The main door opens and RUBÉN (22) enters, with his student backpack on his shoulder. Rubén closes the door and walks to the dining room. In the dining room, GUILLERMO (23) is sitting in front of a table, engaged in what appear to be chemistry experiments. On the table there are test tubes, test tubes, etc.

RUBEN

Hey!

WILLIAM

(without turning)

Look, don’t miss this.

Rubén comes over to look. Guillermo puts a few drops in a test tube. Some smoke comes out.

WILLIAM

You’ve seen? React well … Aha!

RUBEN

Ok, but if you don’t tell me what it is …

WILLIAM

A solvent that I am inventing. Powerful! If you put your finger in, in two minutes goodbye finger. The formula has Coca-Cola. By the way, I had to get you a couple of cans that you had in the fridge.

RUBEN

No matter. Interesting… Well, I’ll see if I start studying, that I have the exam in two weeks and I still haven’t looked at anything.

WILLIAM

Get on, get on, lest you get caught. Hey, tomorrow a cousin of mine is coming to eat, who has started working next door. You will be, right? You could make us those spaghetti that come out so good for you.

RUBEN

Yeah, sure, and then I’ll do the dishes for you, right? What a nose!

INT. SHARED APARTMENT / KITCHEN – DAY

Rubén is cooking spaghetti. Take one and try it to see if it’s al dente. Doorbell is ringing.

RUBEN

(yelling into the dining room)

William! It will be your cousin!

Nobody responds.

RUBEN

(yelling into the dining room)

William!

Nobody responds. Rubén puts down the ladle and heads down the hall.

RUBEN

I’m going!

INT. SHARED APARTMENT / HALL – DAY

Rubén opens the door. He is surprised to see a policeman outside. It’s about ANGEL (30).

ANGEL

Don’t worry, I’m not on duty. Is Guillermo there? I am Angel, his cousin.

RUBEN

Ah hello. I am Rubén (they shake hands). It is and it is not. There, in the dining room.

Angel enters.
