What is a Syndicate?

The term union is used to define and describe the association whose task is to ensure the rights of the working class . That is, they appeal and fight for their interests from all areas, economic, social and labor. These three aspects must be found within an environment in decent conditions in terms of salary, employment and social guarantees. The union is the one who deals directly with the employer, therefore, it is in charge of establishing and specifying the benefits that the employee will receive in exchange for their services.

It is important to mention the existence of various unions, in this case, is divided specifically according to the work area . In this way, each union negotiates and discusses the sources of employment and employers in a particular way. It is there where the base document for contracting arises , which has the function of keeping the agreements that have been established in writing. This document is named as a contract or collective agreement, it is the endorsement and support of each worker to demand the minimum that a job must offer.

On the other hand, the union throughout history has been an entity that endorses and supports the struggles of the workers. Works as a bond and strength, it gives the power to demand when a work situation is not fair. In addition to this, said entity allows employees and workers to propose their own agreements and negotiations with employers. On the other hand, it is important to mention that the union or unions apply their laws, regulations and agreements not only to the public sector. In other words, they also involve companies, companies and employers from the private sector.

Union Functions

  • Write, draft and establish collective agreements or contracts when necessary. In these it expresses the minimum conditions under which the employer is paid for his work.
  • Sometimes it is necessary for the entity to represent and establish individual contracts.
  • It focuses on supervising, defending and guaranteeing safety in all aspects from the workplace. Mainly, it ensures that the employee has decent conditions in their work.
  • The union is in charge of demanding that employers comply with labor agreements. Social rights and guarantees are the aspects most monitored by the entity.

Union types

  • By union: This type is the one who defends and watches over the rights of workers who work in the same medium or trade.
  • By company or institution: As its name indicates, it brings together and watches over the employees and workers who are part of the same entity. In this type, the job or work performed by the worker is not given so much importance, it is only taken into account that it belongs to the company.
  • By activity: In this case, employees and workers with the same job, job or trade meet even though they belong to different companies.
  • Union of independent workers: It is characterized by grouping and involving all individuals who work on their own, that is, they do not have an employer nor is they one.
  • Union of temporary workers: It is called temporary workers because they do not have fixed contracts, that is, they carry out tasks and trades for short periods.
  • Trade Union Federation: It focuses on unions in the same area or work, brings them together to discuss regional, national and even international agreements.
  • National Union: Involves and brings together all the unions of a nation, regardless of the area or work they perform.
  • Global Union: As the name implies, it focuses on bringing together and bringing together all national unions in an international conference.
