A functional curriculum is one that is structured by topics. In this way the information is more organized and its reading will be easier. People who have experience in various areas of knowledge can use this type of resume to describe their studies and positions without making it seem overwhelming.

However, as is the trend these days, functional curricula focus more on skills and studies completed than on work experience.

If we are opting for a programmer position, but we also know about other areas, it will not be necessary to place it as long as it is not related. It is best if the entire document is designed to highlight what is necessary to be chosen.

The people who benefit the most from this resume structure are those who do not have work experience, but have accumulated many studies, such as a university degree or certifications. The functional CV is not time-based (although it may be optional) nor does it significantly position experience in previous jobs, the latter rather secondary.
