It is a term from the English language and is known in the Spanish language as feedback . It is generally referred to as a synonym of reaction, return or response, in the face of an opinion, criticism or evaluation provided by an interlocutor.
From the communicative point of view , feedback is defined as an important element in the evolution of the communicative process, alternating the information that is transmitted between the sender and the receiver. Feedback can be given in various areas where communication allows it.
- In a workplace it can be presented when the boss raises his employees the plans, projects and tasks that are planned to be carried out for the next year. In this sense, workers can be allowed to express their opinion and participate actively in the process.
- When there are problems in the workplace, supervisors or the manager can organize the work group in order to express what is happening and how the situation can improve. The idea is to raise both aspects and achieve positive results.
- A group of students meets to evaluate a certain topic regarding a school assignment that was sent to them. In this case, the students meet to raise their different points of view, receive feedback and be able to reach a consensus to carry out the activity that was sent to them.
- A family has problems when it comes to choosing a new house. In this case, family members meet to evaluate the positive and negative aspects of the possible move and thus determine whether they can leave or stay.
- When launching a product, companies are generally very attentive to the opinion of customers or users. In this sense, they always seek to know what their customers think in order to improve and reinforce the positive aspects of it.
- When an employee makes a mistake while performing his duties at his job. In this case, the employer must approach the employee, explain what happened and between the two of them propose possible solutions that can be given to the present problem, offering alternatives for change and improvements.
- Cases in which a participant of the school group does not deliver a work on time. In this case, the rest of the group should approach the person affected and ask what happened and why it was missing. In this sense, emphasis should be placed on the importance of work, how this affects the rest of the group, causing motivation in it so that what happened does not happen again.
- When employees are not motivated in the workplace. One of the best ways to find out is through communication. Sitting down to talk and ask for an explanation can contribute to the improvement of the problem and consequent solution, instead of getting stuck in the difficulty.
- When a worker is rude to another worker. At times, workers are victims of work-related stress and annoyance, which is why meetings are always important. In this sense, the person in charge must sit down with those affected and talk about the problem, propose possible solutions and evaluate the cons of the situation and together reach a solution.
- When you try to hold feedback meetings, you should always include those affected or direct members of the group, since they will give way to optimal and beneficial feedback for all, in order to evaluate and determine what is best for everyone.
There are two types of feedback , positive and negative.
- Positive feedback: when we talk about positive feedback, we refer to the exchange of information through communication. In this sense, a feedback of both opinion and ideas is provided that allow to contribute to the improvement of the communication process, even providing possible solutions. In this sense, we can say that feedback has been optimal and beneficial for those involved in the communication process.
- Negative feedback: this type of communication expresses rejection of the opinion that the principal has expressed in front of the interlocutors or interlocutor. In this sense, we refer to negative comments, criticisms or disapprovals that do not allow progress in communication.
