Examples of Unsaturated Fats

The unsaturated fats are fatty acids having one or more double bonds of the carbon chain. These fats can be monounsaturated or polyunsaturated and provide 9 kcl for each gram. They are very important for our body, since they are classified as good fats.

Benefits of unsaturated fats
  • They help lower “bad” cholesterol (LDL) levels and increase “good” cholesterol (HDL).
  • They protect the heart and arteries from disease.
  • They reduce arthritis symptoms.
  • They improve the functioning of the central nervous system.
It must be taken into consideration that although they are called good fats, they still contain a high caloric level, so it is important to have control over the consumption of this type of fat, otherwise, we will also have serious overweight problems, as well as other diseases that may arise.
