Organization chart

An organization chart refers to an internal structure or organization of an institution or company. It is responsible for detailing and specifying the details, positions, ranks or positions that exist within the company in order to handle the information in more detail.

An organization chart must have reflected in it:

  • The structure that defines the various hierarchical and organizational levels within the company
  • The bodies that make up the hierarchical structure
  • The communication channels that link these organs
  • The description of the people who hold these positions

The main objectives of an organization chart are, apart from graphically representing the organizational structure of the company, the following:

  • The articulation processes of the various functions within said structure
  • The various jobs , with the units and existing positions within the structure.
  • The relationships , lines of communication, and connections between the various positions and units in the organization.

Any organization chart must allow to understand in a simple and simple way , the organizational structure of the company, having within it a function of a static and dynamic nature at the same time. The static function occurs when it is generated at a certain moment in the life of an organization, while the dynamic function constitutes a fundamental factor within the directive.

In this sense, with a dynamic function , the aim is to present a preliminary study of the structure in order to maintain constant control regarding the validity and effectiveness of said structure as well as the adequacy of the various existing variables.

Types of organization charts

  • General: it is in charge of capturing in a summarized way, the structure of a company, capturing in it only the major divisions.
  • Particular or sectorial: it is in charge of capturing in a more detailed way, the structures of lower units. Generally, in large companies, general organization charts are usually made to visualize the organization in a superficial way and it is accompanied by a particular or sectoral organization to detail small organizations.
  • Blocks: details the organization of a large group within the company. In this sense, it only refers to the main groups.
  • In detail: makes a representation of all levels, positions and positions that are within a company.
