OCD is the acronym used to refer to obsessive compulsive disorder, it is an anxiety disorder that occurs with symptoms such as thoughts, emotions and ideas that are constantly in the person’s mind and as its name indicates it becomes something that reaches the obsession, the person almost without realizing it repeats these behavior patterns because in this way it helps to reduce anxiety, however the behavior that leads to OCD can seriously affect the life of the individual in many aspects, a A clear example may be that the person is convinced that if he does not repeat an action constantly then something will not go well and on the contrary he thinks that doing it helps.

Modern medicine defines OCD as an anxiety problem and that presents these characteristics: intrusive, intense and recurring ideas and thoughts, are usually accompanied by a feeling of nervousness, apprehension, fear and worry in addition to the already mentioned actions and behaviors that are they repeat constantly. According to the literature it can be classified into three types:
  1. Cleaning: it is a type of obsession in which people are obsessed with always keeping everything clean and having high and exaggerated hygiene even when their surroundings and themselves are already clean.
  2. Verification: it is a behavior in which the person shows insecurity and they are constantly checking things and situations at home.
  3. Order: occurs when symmetry is obsessively sought and everything is precisely located.

Obsessive compulsive disorder can affect the life of the person who suffers from this disorder to the point of incapacitating it and this is a fact considered by the WHO which has already ruled on the matter since many people despite being aware of suffering from This problem cannot be controlled by their own means, especially in extreme cases, for which a specialized treatment is necessary.

  1. Mental rituals, repeating thoughts and having recurring ideas.
  2. Obsession for order.
  3. Obsession for cleanliness, people who suffer from it cannot be calm if they are not constantly cleaning everything around them despite the fact that they are already clean.
  4. Obsession for numbers, in this case people seek to find a numerical meaning to everything.
  5. Accumulation is when people have a behavior in which they buy and accumulate things they do not need, collect rare things and have huge mounds in various parts of their house.
  6. Stripes on the sidewalk, it is a mild symptom and does not usually represent a problem in the life of the person, it occurs when the person avoids stepping on any line or line that crosses his path, he thinks that doing so could trigger unpleasant situations.
