The employment discrimination is a social phenomenon that is evident through cruel actions or derogatory towards one or more workers. This unjustified treatment can be evidenced in small or large companies, physically, psychologically and emotionally affecting the man or woman who is being attacked.

Although discriminatory treatment in the workplace is currently prohibited, even penalized, these have persisted over time due to abuse, generally, of company policies or heads of departments. Among the most frequent cases of employment discrimination, we have:

  1. Labor discrimination by gender: It constitutes the most frequent discrimination in the workplace. It tends to harm the female sex in a high percentage, and is evidenced when positions or jobs are forbidden to women, just because they believe they are weak to exercise certain skills.
  2. Religious discrimination: Persistent attack on people or groups that are represented by a religious current other than the one pre-established by the organization and its board of directors.
  3. Age discrimination: This type of discrimination directly affects the elderly, because for many companies these people do not represent productivity for the same. In the same way, he attacks young people without years of experience within his resume.
  4. Discrimination due to maternity or pregnancy: Companies that withdraw from payroll or do not hire women who have children or are pregnant.
  5. Political discrimination: It is also usually a reason for the contract or dismissal of workers in a company. This type of discrimination is mostly evident in state-owned companies.
  6. Discrimination due to disability: People with metal or motor retardation who do not have the opportunity to obtain employment benefits due to their condition.
  7. Social discrimination: It affects people who belong to very low social strata, which does not allow them to enjoy jobs in prestigious organizations.
  8. Discrimination based on physical complexion or physiognomy: Rejection of people who do not have a physical appearance established within society as “normal”.
  9. Discrimination based on nationality: Do not grant jobs to people with different ethnic origins or from other countries.
  10. Discrimination due to racism: Contempt of a person for their skin color is one of the most alarming factors of discrimination not only in employment but also in society.
  11. Sex discrimination: Unlike gender discrimination, this constitutes the derogatory treatment of people with different sexual tastes, it directly attacks the LGBT community.
  12. Salary discrimination: Even when they work under the same department, some receive more salary than others. This affects mainly the female sex, who receive a lower salary percentage than what men can receive.
  13. Discrimination due to laterality: Perhaps one of the least known discriminatory treatments, but it affects right-handed and left-handed people, the latter being the most attacked.
  14. Economic discrimination: It generally results in discrimination by social class, and refers to the assets that a person must possess to be part of the company’s payroll.
  15. Cultural discrimination: It refers to the rejection of ancestral clothing, language or practices that are not understood or respected before others in society.
  16. Discrimination due to illness: People with HIV / AIDS or another sexually transmitted disease have been the most vulnerable in the workplace or, failing that, they have not been hired by companies due to their condition.
  17. Linguistic discrimination: Rejection of the worker because of his accent, dialect or language.
  18. Structural discrimination: This refers to company policies that benefit some workers but at the same time harm others.
  19. Indirect discrimination: It constitutes the norms, policies or rules of the organization that seem easy but in practice violate the worker.
  20. Institutional discrimination: This type of treatment is evident when attending a job interview. The person is usually attacked by questions of personal preferences and that would serve as the final judgment to access a job.
