Emails are the most common way we have to communicate with geographically distant people. From sending resumes to a simple message indicating certain information is what we generally send to other users.
When we send an email to someone with whom we must maintain a certain distance out of respect and courtesy, we must write it as if it were a letter (formal or informal).
How to write emails in English
– Write a Subject that describes the content of the email.
– First of all, say hello to the sender if you have spoken before or know him in person: Hi, Charles, Hi Mary . Otherwise use Mr. or Ms. Bing or Dear Mr. or Ms. Bing.
– After the greeting write a sentence that introduces the reader in context so that they know what is going to be discussed in the email: I am writing to inform you that… / I am writing to inform you that… ; I wish to have further information about… / I would like to receive information about…
– Write a short and precise body. Use easy-to-understand words to get an answer as quickly as possible.
– Write a nice greeting: Yours sincerely / sincerely yours…; Kind regards / Greetings; I look forward to hearing from you… / I’m waiting for your answer…; If you need more information, feel free to contact me / If you need more information, do not hesitate to contact me …
