Education system

An educational system is a structure with various components that are interrelated and whose objective is to ensure that people obtain knowledge that they can then apply in society.

As is evident, the purpose of educating is for others to learn, but in each country a type of educational system is established to achieve particular objectives, all according to their areas of production, their culture, etc.

The system can be made up of schools, secondary schools or lyceums, universities or university institutes and academies . All of this is governed by rules set by state agencies related to education , which are part of the “head” of this entire system. In some countries, it is the ministry of education that regulates and controls the education system, followed by other regional or local organizations.

Types of education

To understand what an educational system is about, we must first know what are the main types of education that are developed in the world:

According to age or educational level:

  • Infant or initial. It includes from 0 to 6 years of age. In some countries it has the name of preschool, P3, P4, P5, nursery school or nursery school.
  • Primary . It ranges from 6 to 12 years of age in most countries. This stage prepares young people for high school or high school.
  • Secondary . It ranges from 12 to 16 years of age. And it is the stage prior to university and the rest of higher studies.
  • Upper average. In some countries it is mandatory, but not in others. It offers specialized training in one or more trades.
  • Superior . It refers to university studies, which is not compulsory.
  • Post-college. They are postgraduates, doctorates, masters, etc.

According to the format:

  • Online (remote). They are the studies that are carried out from the web, through a communication tool where there is student-teacher interaction.
  • Presencial . All training where attending a classroom is mandatory.
  • Blended . It is about interspersing between face-to-face classes and distance classes at the same time.

According to the content:

  • Physical education. It focuses on sports and physical activity in general. Classes are mostly practical, but theory is also included.
  • Emotional education. It has to do with self-knowledge to improve areas such as work and enhance mental health.
  • Education in values. It has to do with emotional health, but from the point of view of interpretation of values.
  • Intellectual education. It is the one that develops and improves cognitive abilities.
  • Social education. Develops skills to maintain interpersonal relationships with harmony, in addition to knowing what we can contribute to society and what to expect from it.
  • Special education. It is aimed at children and adults with educational needs different from the traditional system due to a physical or intellectual disability.

Depending on the context:

  • Formal (regulated). It is the one that is subject to laws and regulations, and its professional and legal value is irrefutable.
  • Not formal. Courses, workshops, workshops, webinars that are quite good and organized, but whose value is not undermined by any organization belonging to the educational system.
  • Informal . It has to do with the teachings received from people outside the education system. They can be parents, grandparents or any other type of individuals.

Examples of educational system

In Finland: children only receive 5 hours of classes without having to leave homework for them to do at home. Due to free time, they can sign up for many extracurricular activities that they can take advantage of in the future. It is normal to see the rooms with spaces for games and very well decorated.

In the Netherlands: although the schools are private, the Dutch government injects them with capital so that they guarantee a good academic training. Through technology they have been able to motivate the collaboration and participation of children in their classrooms.

In South Korea: in that country children are trained in such a way that competition is always present. This has made the children grow up and educate themselves in order to be the best and to help improve the economic activity of that country.
